RRC Enforcement Actions Taken at Commissioners’ Aug. 15 Conference
August 17, 2017AUSTIN – The Railroad Commission of Texas assessed $949,983 in fines involving 323 enforcement dockets against operators and businesses at the Commissioners’ conference earlier this week. The Commission has primary oversight and enforcement of the state’s oil and gas industry and intrastate pipeline safety.
Three operators were assessed $202,376 in six oil & gas protested enforcement dockets that went to hearing. The final orders for dockets 7B-0294231; 7B-0298247; 09-0295358; 7B-0297022; 7B-0302496 and 03-0302351 can be found here.
Operators were assessed $266,659.50 after failing to appear at Commission enforcement proceedings. Details on these Master Default Orders can be found on the RRC website here.
Operators were ordered to come into compliance with Commission rules and assessed $71,760 for oil and gas, LP-Gas and pipeline safety rule violations. Pipeline operators and excavators were assessed $409,187.50 for violations of the Commission’s Pipeline Damage Prevention rules. In the absence of timely motions for rehearing, decisions are final as stated in these final orders.
